Thomson Robert

MD, Public Health specialist, Geneva Foundation for Medical Education, Switzerland

Robert Thomson (BA, MSc, FRSPH) is a member of the expert group on protection of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit, deployed as a specialist in sexual and gender-based violence in conflict-affected northeast Nigeria. He worked in the original WHO Adolescent Health Unit in Geneva and with UNFPA in Africa, the Middle East, in Central Asia while lecturing with the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research. After retirement, Robert continues to focus his technical skills in the provision of health education and life skills for adolescent migrants and young refugees, developing the “Boys on the Move” programme with Alexios Georgalis along with a companion set of 12 Questions and Answers on Sexual and Reproductive Health. Robert’s initial academic background is in theology and psychology, later in education and training methodology and most recently in health and migration diplomacy. He is a member of the Swiss Association for Adolescent Health.
